OUR STORY.

Claregalway Castle is a fully restored 15th century Anglo-Norman tower house. Situated on the banks of the River Clare in Co. Galway.

The castle is the original home of the Brian Boru Harp - The national symbol of Ireland

When the castle was acquired in 2000, the building was in danger of collapse. The roof of the castle had been removed in 1653, following the infamous Siege of Galway by Cromwellian forces. Mature trees sprung from the upper floors and the stone work was under threat. A major reconstruction programme was carried out under conservation architect David Johnson, a former inspector of national monuments with The Office of Public Works.

Some of Europe's top stonemasons and conservationists were hired to ensure that the castle was returned to its original state. His mission was simple, to ensure that the castle was restored to the style in which it was constructed.
