Sheep farmers, researchers, innovators, food and craft producers from across Ireland and Europe will come to Galway on 30/31 Oct, 2020, taking our agricultural heritage into focus. The Congress Conference, on Friday 30 Oct, is bringing sector experts from Ireland and across the world to present and discuss the state of play and the future opportunities in farming, food production, wool and it’s products, agritourism and sustainable practices.
Hosted by, well known presenter of RTE’s Countrywide, Damien O’Reilly, who will lead the discussions with farmers, industry experts and producers from across the sectors including IWTO, IFA, ICSA, Slow Food International, Teagasc, Bord Bia, CÁIS, Failte Ireland, cheese and meat producers, wool mills, yarn and cloth producers and agritourism providers. On Saturday 31 Oct, a public day, ‘Living with Sheep’, the delegates attend an agritourism panel discussion on the importance and future of sheep farm tourism, country festivals and food tours, enjoy the sheep breeds, sheepdog trials, shearing and a bespoke Culture Bus Tour to events in Galway city in the afternoon. 'Living with Sheep', at Claregalway Castle, is also a public day for everyone to enjoy with 20+ pedigree sheep breeds, displays of sheepdog trials and sheep shearing by Irish Sheep Shearer’s Association 2019 national team members, including world champion, Ivan Scott. A comprehensive list of Irish and European food producers, woollen mills, hand and machine weavers, an installation and demonstrations from the Irish Guild of Weavers Spinners & Dyers. A series of panel discussions and workshops with demonstrations, talks and workshops will take place across the 2-day event. Lots to listen to, lots to see and do! Lots of produce available and fun for all.
